  • May 20, 2020

On behalf of the Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) of the National Institute of Health (NIH), APAOG members are invited to attend the virtual Pregnancy and Maternal Conditions that Increase Risk of Morbidity and Mortality Workshop on May 19–20, 2020. This event is sponsored by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the ORWH, the immediate NIH Office of the Director (OD), the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the NIH Office of Disease Prevention (ODP).

Research experts will explore why women suffer and die from various health conditions related to pregnancy, such as postpartum hemorrhage, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and infection. The speakers will address how to identify patients at risk and what interventions may reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. The goal of this workshop is to identify research gaps relevant to understanding the clinical causes of maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity. Event organizers will be tweeting about the event during the workshop and be responding to questions posed on Twitter. Both days of this workshop can be accessed via the videocast links below.
