California Family Health Council (CFHC) will present a full-day Women's Health Update Clinical Skills Symposium in Oakland and Los Angeles this fall to enhance the capacity of health care professionals to offer high quality reproductive health care.
The Women's Health Update Clinical Skills Symposium 2016 will provide a unique opportunity for providers to learn essential clinical skills and best practices based on current guidelines from nationally recognized experts in the field. This event was designed to meet the demand for more hands-on clinical practice. Clinical Practica
Intrauterine Device (IUD) Placement + Removal

Practicum participants will receive a skills sharpener that will include background information and placement techniques for the fourintrauterine devices available: Mirena®, ParaGard®, Skyla® and Liletta®. Hands-on practice will be supervised by experienced preceptors. (RX = 3)
Skill Building for Gynecological Office Procedures

This session will present techniques for gynecological office procedures including vulvar and endometrial biopsies, cervical polypectomies, surgical and medical management of Bartholin duct and gland abscesses and vulvar abscesses. Hands-on practice will be supervised by experienced preceptors. (RX = 2. 75)
Nexplanon™ Placement + Removal 101*
Participants will receive hands-on, supervised instruction on the placement, localization, removal and re-insertion of Nexplanon™ (etonogestrel implant). Practicum attendees will also learn how toidentify appropriate patients, prepare patients and manage technical issues. Completion of this certification session is required for providers new to Nexplanon placement and removal. No CME/CE credit for this session
Advanced LARCs: Nexplanon™+ IUD Management 201*

Instruction for this session will provide techniques to manage challenging situations encountered during placement and removal of contraceptive implants and IUDs, including the management of complications, through a review of cases studies and application of best practices.
