STI Update: Improving Upon Our Prior Knowledge of Sexually Transmitted Infections

This lecture will focus on a review of the latest edition of the CDC Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines published in June 2015. We will review current prevalence data and discuss factors contributing to the recent increase in reportable STDs. We will highlight significant changes from the prior edition of the CDC STD Treatment Guidelines and discuss techniques for prevention, testing, and treatment applicable to everyday clinical practice.

Objectives:

1. Describe the current epidemiology and trends of STDs in the United States, including factors contributing to recent changes

2. Highlight changes made to the current CDC STD Treatment Guidelines

3. Discuss techniques for prevention, testing, and treatment applicable to everyday clinical practice

This program has been reviewed and is approved for a maximum of 1.00 AAPA Category 1 CME credits by the PA Review Panel. PAs should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
