Colposcopy Training Registration (Add-On)
On Monday, July 29th, from 8:00 to 11:00 am, we will be hosting a Colposcopy Training to kick off the 2024 Annual Conference. This workshop is separate from the main conference registration fee and is offered at a low cost. Registration is limited (50) so be sure to secure your spot early!
Breann Garbas, DHSc, MPAS, PA-C, DFAAPA, received her Master’s in PA Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina and her Doctorate in Health Science from Nova Southeastern University. She practiced in obstetrics and gynecology in Summerville, SC before moving to a rural family medicine focus in Florida where she maintained an emphasis in providing education and care for patients who did not have regular access to ob/gyn care. She began as an clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida School of PA Studies in 2016 and teaches in most aspects of the program. Clinically, she maintains practice at the student run free clinic in both family medicine and gynecology. Working with students from their first weeks of clinical experience through their graduation is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a professor in addition to instilling a true love of medicine. She has worked to develop her publications and research skills and is most excited to present this colposcopy workshop at APAOG to introduce a technique that will allow decreased patient and provider discomfort while enhancing clinical outcome.
Shannon Cohen, MPAS, PA-C, is originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL. She attended the University of Florida for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She graduated from UF’s School of Physician Assistant Studies in 2020 and started her career on the Burn ICU at UF Health Shands Hospital. Eventually, she transitioned to OBGYN at UF Health where she has thoroughly enjoyed caring for her patients in the outpatient setting. She currently lives in Gainesville, FL with her husband and dog.
Colposcopy training will give attendees an opportunity to have hands-on practice with varying degrees of cervical lesions utilizing a patented cervical trainer and Gamuard’s GYN ZOE simulation model. Participants will have access to a didactic education pre-workshop to best utilize all conference hours for engaging practice with simulation material. Cervical models are built to allow for the visualization of lesions and for biopsies to be taken with real colposcopic instrumentation. Post-biopsy, trainers will be removed and evaluated for completeness of the biopsy technique. This low-stress, high-output workshop will improve learner technique and decrease patient discomfort.
* Note: You must be registered for the 2024 Annual Conference before registering for this additional training.
