Position Title: PA/ NP - Clinical Assistant Professor Department: Wingate University Department of Physician Assistant Studies
Position Summary
This is a full time clinical faculty position with Wingate University Department of Physician Assistant Studies and Hendersonville OB-GYN Associates located in Hendersonville, NC. The PA will work clinically in collaboration with the physicians at Hendersonville OB-GYN Associates and serve as the clinical preceptor for Wingate Physician Assistant students in their Women’s Health rotation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Serve as a clinical preceptor for second year PA students
● Provide evaluation of the students medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professionalism
● Assist with or teach the Women’s Health course in the PA curriculum
● Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral and follow-up
● Perform women’s wellness exams, gynecologic care, and prenatal care
● Assist in surgery and perform minor surgical procedures
● Order and interpret diagnostic testing
● Demonstrate initiative, problem solving ability, adaptability and flexibility
● Critically analyzes data and evidence for improving clinical practice
● Proficient skills in use of computer and EMR system
● Serve as a liaison between the PA Program and health care community
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills required in English
Education, Experience and Certifications
● Preference is given to applicants with clinical experience in Women’s Health and/or Primary Care
● Hold a terminal degree from a regionally accredited university
● Current NCCPA certification
● Current/eligible for NC Medical license
Physical Requirements
Work requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 25 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment and supplies. Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch and dexterity.
